Madarasz and Dennis Scrapbook, 1886

A showcase of Ornamental Penmanship and Offhand Flourishing.

This small scrapbook was sent by M. A. Albin to Zaner-Bloser Co. at some time prior to November 1928. E. W. Bloser later sent a letter to Mr. W. H. Morgan advertising its sale along with a number of other Madarasz specimens.

It would appear that the collection went unsold, or in some other manner found its way home to Mr. Albin, whose great-granddaughter sold it in February 2026 to a private American collector. David Grimes brokered the deal and secured the rights to publish these images as a result of his involvement.

This scrapbook contains some wonderful specimens of Ornamental Penmanship and Offhand Flourishing from the pens of L. Madarasz and W. E. Dennis. There were over a hundred pages in the book, but most were devoid of markings and were not photographed. The cover measures 180mm by 227mm while the pages measure 174mm by 221mm.
