Louis Madarasz (1860-1910)

Among the annals of the penman’s papers of The Progressive Era, few names appear more often or in better favor than that of Louis Madarasz. Widely known in his younger years as the “boy penman,” Madarasz displayed a great aptitude for offhand ornamental writing that was graceful, dashy, and highly technically accomplished. His wide renown and prolific contributions to the profession of penmanship during the course of his life have cemented his legacy as a grand penman—perhaps one of the finest America ever produced.
