Monthly small group sessions
Each DIS Workshop lasts two hours and covers a specific topic, technique, or project. Registration comes with downloadable samples, 30 days of access to a recording of the live workshop, and 30 days of feedback through the DIS Community Forum.

Basic Engrossing for Halloween
When: Saturday, September 19th. 9:30-11:30am PDT
In this workshop, we will be design a Halloween card by pulling inspiration from historic engrossing samples found in The Business Educator and private collections. This design will introduce attendees to some very basic engrossing skills, a bit of text lettering, and design thinking in the context of a fun holiday card that can be sent to friend in time for the season.
To participate in this two-hour workshop, you will need:
- A few pieces of Arches 90lb Hot Press Watercolor Paper
- Masking tape
- A pencil & eraser
- A pointed pen of your choice (Hunt 101, LPEF)
- A ~3mm broad pen of your choice (Brause recommended)
- A ruler with a beveled edge
- A straight pen holder
- One ounce of black sumi ink
- A watercolor brush (Size 0, pointed round shape)
- Burnt Umber & Hansa Yellow watercolors
- A webcam and computer (no blank screens, please)
